Rescue crews have found the body of a missing infant believed to have been swept away by flood waters after Tropical Storm Florence ripped up the Atlantic Coast.
According to the Union County Sheriff's Office in Monroe, N.C., one year-old Kaiden Lee-Welch was caught up in flood waters and was reported missing early Sunday morning. The department says the boy's mother was traveling east on state highway 218 near the town of Wadesboro when she drove through barricades.
Her vehicle was pulled into the flood waters before crashing into a group of trees. The woman was able to free herself and Kaiden but she lost her grip on him due of the strength of the rushing water.
Kaiden's body was found by search and rescue teams Monday morning.
CBS News reports the storm has already claimed 17 lives and still has over a half million people without power in North and South Carolina.
