Funeral plans have been set for Ludowici Police Chief Frank McClelland, Jr.
Chief McClelland was one of two people hit and killed after a high-speed chase on Saturday. He was trying to stop 23-year-old Daniel Hill when the crash occurred.
Hill is now facing multiple charges following the crash. He also hit and killed motorcyclist 61-year-old Marvin Pope.
The car ultimately crashed at a gas station and Hill was taken into custody by law enforcement.
"It's tough. You know, we are all really close friends. And, you know, the reality is just getting stronger as the time passes," said Sheriff Craig Nobles, Long County.
For now, Hill will remain at the Liberty County Jail. He does have the option to request a bond hearing in Superior Court.
There will be a visitation for Chief McClelland on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geraldine McClelland Elementary School Cafeteria. A funeral is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Ludowici, followed by the burial at Jones Creek Memorial Gardens.
