The four suspects accused in the the fatal shooting of a manager at Barcelona Wine Bar have all entered pleas of not guilty.
Samuel Ott, Carlous Bailey, Terry Jones and Ira Williams are charged in the death of 29-year-old restaurant manager Chelsea Beller.
It happened after 2 a.m. on November 19, 2017. Surveillance video captured much of the crime on camera. The perpetrators in the video have their faces covered.
Prosecutors say Jones dropped off the other three at the restaurant on Howell Mill Road during closing time and they went inside and tied up employees. Beller was shot and killed when she was taken upstairs to the office to open the safe. Prosecutors said Bailey is seen on video pulling the trigger.
Ott's attorney said his client has an alibi and he will prove it in court.
"He was somewhere else that night. In addition, his cell phone did not ping in that area that night," said defense attorney Timothy McCalep.
"He is not in that video and you cannot see him in that video, additionally there are no eye witnesses that can identify my client," said McCalep.
Ott was the first suspect in the case to be arrested after police said his DNA matched evidence linked to the crime scene. McCalep would not comment about that.
The APD’s Fugitive Unit took Terry Jones into custody on February 28 after he landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport. He has been charged with felony murder and was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
Ira Williams was also arrested by APD’s Fugitive Unit at a residence in Stone Mountain. Williams was charged with Felony Murder and was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
